Addressing our own mortality is not a subject that is easy to tackle, but it is necessary to ensure that our families and friends are not left with a mess after we are gone.  We have worked hard to develop our estate planning practice so that we can address your goals and help you achieve them through a personalized estate plan.  Our Firm will spend the time to listen to what you would like your legacy to be, while also gathering detailed information that allows us to work together to organize your plan and maximize your legacy.  While the majority of estate planning is document driven, our Firm's estate planning process focuses on you, not only ensuring that your assets, income and liabilities are organized and understood, but that you implement a plan that both preserves your legacy for the future and provides a smooth process for your loved ones when the time comes.   

The Probate Court process often has a reputation of being time consuming and expensive.  While the process may be a bit difficult to navigate alone, the Probate Court is often necessary and can have its benefits.  The most common reason that Probate Court is needed is to handle a person's estate after they pass away; however, Probate Court also addresses many other matters, including some juvenile matters as well as matters related to conservatorship.  No matter your needs, our Firm is ready to help.  Whether you just need a little assistance in the process or are overwhelmed and want help from start to finish, our Firm is here to work with you to meet your specific needs.      

Whether you are buying or selling a home, or looking to refinance your current mortgage, our Firm is there to represent your needs and make sure you know your rights and obligations.   We even have special agreements for co-buyers not protected by marriage.  

Mediation is a party-driven and effective process for resolving disputes either in lieu of or prior to full litigation.  This process is private, less expensive than going to trial and is generally less adversarial.  Attorney Zarro acts as a neutral mediator, working with parties to resolve their conflicts. By avoiding the win-lose impact of a court trial, mediation allows for collaboration, negotiation and often a settlement that involves some control by the parties. 

Over the course of our lives, we will be faced with situations where we will need to sign agreements and will need written agreements in place to meet or protect our interests.  Rather than just signing on the dotted line or even worse, not putting something in writing, you can avoid a lot of stress down the road by having our Firm help.  Not only will we review any agreements you are contemplating, but we can help break down the legalese into terms that you can understand, so that you don't get yourself into an obligation you will regret.  We can also help you to put into writing those verbal or handshake agreements that may have been standard years ago, but are just not enough in this day and age, to protect you and often the time and money you invest.  This type of work costs less than you would think and most certainly will save you headaches down the line.  

From time to time, clients have legal needs that go beyond our everyday areas of practice.  If it is not an area our Firm works in, we will try to refer you to another attorney.  Otherwise, we often work with clients to address matters that include small business formation, employment separation, non-profit matters, certain family matters and more.

From the time Attorney Zarro was in law school, she was invested in juvenile law.  She completed an internship with DCF in Hartford and even handled cases under her own malpractice in the years she worked at a firm before opening The Law Office of Kate M Casagrande.  Most of her work was through contracted work with the State as a special public defender for more than 15 years.  In 2017, she ended her contract with the state to focus more on her estate planning practice, but continues to use that expertise to handle matters privately and to provide general assistance with how to navigate the DCF system.  Whether you are being accused of the abuse or neglect of a child, or are involved in the system as a foster care provider, it is important to have someone knowledgeable to advocate on your behalf.
